Ensemble "Mijat Maskovic" - Kolasin/ Montenegro

All dances are performed exclusively a cappella (accompanied only by singing) or to the rhythm of the dancers' steps. In accordance with authentic traditions, there is no orchestral accompaniment. The singing is characterized by non-tempered scales, narrow melodic intervals (ambitus), and distinctive close-second harmonies.

CULTURAL STATUS: KUD "Mijat Mašković" is a leading ensemble whose dances are officially protected as an Intangible Cultural Property of Montenegro due to their extreme archaicity and research-based authenticity.
